The Dog Creek Timber Trail Ultra features a unique single track course that offers a blend of technical and runnable sections. Each lap measures approximately 16km, designed in a figure-eight configuration, which splits into a 10km northern loop and a 6km southern loop. Runners tackle the northern loop clockwise and the southern loop anticlockwise, converging at a central point where the start/finish line and aid station are located. This setup allows participants to pass the aid station mid-lap, ensuring frequent support and spectator interaction.
The course showcases a rich variety of old exotic forest plantings, enhancing the scenic value of the race. With elevation changes of roughly +/- 365 meters per lap, the route includes multiple footbridges and staircases, totaling about 52 steps, adding a challenging yet manageable vertical element to the race.
The trail’s predominantly single-track nature makes it ideal for both newcomers to trail running and more experienced runners looking for a refreshing challenge. The event’s atmosphere is further enriched by the community and spectator support, particularly at the central aid station area, making it a lively and encouraging environment for all participants.
