
The event features a 5K course that starts and finishes at Wharewaka Point, utilizing the scenic Great Lake Pathway, also known as Lions Walk. This out-and-back route offers participants stunning views along Lake Taupō, extending to 2 Mile Bay. The pathway is well-known for its accessibility and flat terrain, making it suitable for runners and walkers of all abilities.
In addition to the main 5K, there is a children’s race that involves two laps around Wharewaka Point, totaling approximately 1.5 kilometers. This shorter, secure course allows younger participants to enjoy the race day atmosphere in a safe environment.
