The course at the Auckland Botanical Gardens and Totara Regional Park offers a blend of terrains and scenic experiences. Participants begin their run amidst the diverse flora of the Auckland Botanical Gardens. The route then transitions into the native bush of Totara Park, giving runners an opportunity to immerse themselves in natural New Zealand landscapes.
For those undertaking the longer distances, the course extends further into Totara Park, weaving through both pastoral land and areas of old-growth native bush, before converging with the shorter route in the Nikau forest. The course composition is varied, consisting of 55% well-formed gravel tracks, 25% paved footpaths, and 20% grass, providing a diverse running experience that caters to different preferences for trail surfaces.
This event is part of a larger series, connecting it to a network of races that explore different natural terrains across New Zealand, enhancing its appeal to those interested in experiencing the variety and beauty of the country’s landscapes through running.
