Te Anau, Manapouri/Te Anau
The race
The event features a course that begins at the historic Manapouri Hydro Construction Village, surrounded by striking natural landmarks, including Mt Titiroa and the expansive Fiordland National Park. The route takes participants along the Upper Waiau River, leading to the Lake Te Anau Control gates.
As runners progress, they will experience the picturesque lakefront trail, ultimately reaching the finish line at Steamers Beach, which offers scenic views of the lake. This setting not only enhances the running experience but also contributes to the overall atmosphere of the event.
Community involvement is significant, with proceeds directed towards extending local trails and ongoing trail maintenance. Participants have the option to support this initiative through donations at registration.
In keeping with environmental considerations, the event operates as a cup-free race, encouraging entrants to bring their own reusable cups or water bottles for hydration at aid stations throughout the course.
