About this course
Set against the backdrop of the Whakarewarewa Forest, this off-road event features a course that weaves through lush trails, gentle streams, and varied terrain. Participants can expect a rich sensory experience as they navigate a combination of soft forest floor and packed dirt paths, punctuated by occasional climbs that add to the challenge.
The Half Marathon consists of two laps of the 10.5km course, allowing runners to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings. For younger participants, a 2km or 3km trail run/walk is available, providing an opportunity for children to engage with the outdoor environment and enjoy the thrill of the trails.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Lake City Athletic Club Inc., promoting community involvement and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among participants. The atmosphere is typically vibrant, with runners of various skill levels coming together to celebrate endurance and nature.
