The Henderson Shuffle features a 12-hour endurance challenge set on a 4km loop course within Henderson Park. The course blends wide cycleway paths with bush trails, providing a straightforward route that accommodates both runners and walkers. Each loop is designed to be completed in 20 to 30 minutes by runners, and 40 to 50 minutes by those preferring a more leisurely pace.
Participants are encouraged to complete as many loops as they can within the time frame, without the pressure of hourly cut-offs, distinguishing it from the typical Backyard Ultra format. This format allows for a more flexible participation approach, catering to various fitness levels and running or walking preferences.
This event is community-focused, attracting participants from all skill sets, though it is important to note that the trail may not be accessible for wheelchair users. Being a self-supported event, participants are required to bring their own sustenance such as food and drink for the duration of the race.
The Henderson Shuffle is not just about endurance but also involves strategic planning and personal goal setting, making it a mentally as well as physically engaging experience.
