The Geraldine Adventure Race serves as a fundraiser for Geraldine High School and features a diverse range of activities across varying timeframes.
Participants can expect to traverse rolling farmland and areas of native bush while enjoying expansive views of the Canterbury Plains. This event includes options for 1.5, 3, and 7-hour challenges, which incorporate a mix of mountain biking, trekking, navigation, and mystery tasks.
A new addition for 2026 is the 1.5-hour family event, designed as an accessible introduction to navigation and adventure racing, featuring easier terrain and navigation. Participants can anticipate covering approximately 10km in total.
The 3-hour event caters to beginners in adventure racing, requiring participants to jog or walk around 5km off-road and mountain bike roughly 15km along 4WD tracks.
The 7-hour event is structured to be achievable for those with a reasonable fitness level and some navigational skills, involving around 10km of off-road jogging or walking and about 20km of mountain biking on 4WD tracks.
The atmosphere is typically communal, drawing in local supporters and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among participants.
