About this course
In response to the recent events on Mauao, a Community Fun Run/Walk will take place on 19 April 2026, replacing the previously scheduled King and Queen of Mt Maunganui event. This relaxed, inclusive activity will commence from the familiar starting point opposite Mt Drury, following an out-and-back route along the scenic shoreline towards Omanu.
Participants can choose between two distance options, catering to all ages and abilities, making it suitable for runners, walkers, families, and friends. The emphasis of the event lies in community engagement and enjoyment rather than competition, as there will be no podiums or placing prizes. Instead, the atmosphere will focus on movement, fresh air, and a spirit of togetherness, with a few spot prizes available. The organization is being managed by Athletics Tauranga, ensuring a well-coordinated experience for all attendees.
