
The Te Āpiti Traverse is a community-focused trail running event that showcases the stunning landscapes of the Ruahine and Tararua ranges. The course features a diverse terrain, beginning with a crossing of Saddle Road and the new highway, leading participants back over the scenic Manawatu Gorge track.
Runners can choose from various distances, with the longer options providing a comprehensive experience of the area’s natural beauty. The 20km route traverses rolling hills and valleys, offering a challenging yet rewarding test of endurance. The 14km Tararua course is tailored for intermediate runners, presenting a scenic challenge that highlights the region’s picturesque views. Meanwhile, the 10km course is primarily downhill or flat, making it accessible for beginners and families.
