Whanganui, That Place MTB Park
The race
This trail run festival offers participants an opportunity to explore the beautiful native bush trails along the Whanganui River. The event is hosted at a mountain bike park, providing a central hub for activities and festivities.
The longer course presents a challenging experience, featuring steep climbs, river crossings, and panoramic views from ridges. A mid-distance option balances bush and open tracks, catering to a range of skill levels. For those new to trail running, a shorter course provides an accessible entry point.
Participants can choose to walk or run, accommodating different preferences and fitness levels. The terrain consists of a variety of surfaces, including gravel roads, 4WD tracks, and single trails, surrounded by regenerating native bush and exotic forests.
For younger athletes, a dedicated kids’ run offers a safe and scenic loop designed specifically for children aged 3 to 12, promoting early engagement in outdoor activities. This festival aims to foster community involvement while celebrating the natural beauty of the region.
