The club
Wellington Runners & Walkers has been fostering community, fitness, and fun since 1979. Welcoming people of all abilities, the club offers a supportive space to connect, stay active, and explore the Wellington region together.
Weekly meetups are held every Sunday morning at the Akau Tangi Sports Centre, with additional group bus trips to scenic running and walking locations across the region. Whether you’re training for a race or just looking to socialise with like-minded people, there’s something for everyone.
Originally known as the Wellington Marathon Clinic, the club was behind the creation of the Harbour Capital Half Marathon — now known as the Wellington Marathon. Since 2021, the group has continued its legacy under a new name that reflects its inclusive and welcoming spirit.
