The Coastal Five event is scheduled for 16 to 17 November 2024 in New Plymouth, Taranaki. This running festival offers participants the opportunity to complete a marathon distance over two days through a series of five races.
The courses are designed to showcase the natural beauty of the Taranaki region, featuring scenic routes along the Coastal Walkway, across the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, and through landmarks such as Pukekura Park, Lake Mangamahoe, and the Pukeiti Botanical Gardens. The varied terrain includes both flat pathways and cross-country sections, providing participants with an engaging running experience.
On Day 1, the event includes a half marathon, a 4.5km cross-country run, and a 5km run. Day 2 features a 10km run followed by a one-mile race through the main street of New Plymouth. Participants can opt to run each event individually or combine them to achieve the full marathon distance. The Coastal Five highlights not only the region’s picturesque landscapes but also promotes community engagement and local culture through the festival atmosphere. Post-race amenities will be available for participants.
