New Plymouth, Ngamotu Beach Reserve
The race
The event takes place at Ngamotu Beach Reserve, where participants start with an ocean swim parallel to the beach, allowing many to comfortably stand during the brief swim. The Transition area is conveniently located nearby on the access road, facilitating a smooth changeover to the cycling leg, which takes place along the scenic ocean-side walkway.
Participants have the option to compete solo or as part of a two-person team, where one member handles the swim and the other the cycling, with both completing the run segment together. This arrangement fosters a sense of teamwork and community among young athletes.
The atmosphere is lively, with a focus on encouraging children aged 7 to 15 to engage in physical activity and promote a healthy lifestyle. The event not only emphasizes competition but also community involvement, as families and local supporters often gather to cheer on the participants, creating a supportive and festive environment.
