The Hātea Grand Prix is a fun run/walk series situated in Whangarei, featuring its fourth event on 4 March 2026.
The course initiates at the Tikipunga football club carpark and meanders through the Tikipunga Sports Park, predominantly on grass. Runners and walkers will enjoy a scenic route alongside the Hātea River, which transitions into the Waitaua Stream. Participants will reach Vinegar Hill Road before turning around to retrace their steps back to the start. The course is characterized by ample shade from trees and a relatively flat terrain, making it suitable for a summer evening outing.
Registration opens at 5.30pm, with the race commencing at 6pm. This event is timed, allowing participants to accumulate points across various divisions throughout the series. Striving for personal bests can earn bonus points, encouraging competitive spirit among participants.
Hātea Run Members can participate at no cost, while non-members are invited to contribute a $5 koha.
