The race
The event features a mix of off-road hill runs set in the scenic Wither Hills Farm park, offering participants an opportunity to engage with the natural landscape of the Marlborough region.
The Grand Traverse presents a demanding 18km course that ascends Mt Vernon, with a total elevation gain of 950 metres, culminating at an altitude of 422 metres. This challenging route is designed for experienced runners, providing a robust test of endurance and fitness.
In contrast, the Fun Run/Walk features an 11km course that includes a quick ascent to Mt Vernon before traversing around the hill and descending to the finish. This route is more accessible, catering to a broader range of participants.
For younger runners, the Kids’ Challenge offers a 2km out-and-back course along the Mapp Track, designed to be engaging with manageable hills suitable for children.
The atmosphere during the event is characterized by community involvement, as local enthusiasts gather to support and participate. The Marlborough Harrier Club organizes the event, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among participants of all ages.
