The Three Peaks event features a course that uniquely traverses Mt Erin, Kahuranaki, and Te Mata Peak, providing participants with a challenging yet visually stunning experience. This event is distinctive in that it crosses private lands, offering exclusive access to some of Hawke’s Bay’s most breathtaking landscapes. Runners, walkers, and mountain bikers will navigate through a variety of terrains including ancient woodlands, rugged ridgelines, scenic farmlands, and well-maintained tracks comprising single tracks and gravel or limestone roads.
Participants have the option to tackle one, two, or all three peaks, with the flexibility to engage individually or as part of a relay team. The single peak category is designed as a more accessible, non-competitive experience, starting with a unique river wade across the Tukituki River. The event fosters a strong community atmosphere, encouraging involvement from local landowners and support from volunteers, enhancing the cultural richness of the experience.
Managed by Triathlon Hawke’s Bay, the event is well-organized, ensuring a safe and rewarding experience for all entrants, whether they are seasoned athletes or casual participants looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the region.
