
Off Road Taupō is an off-road festival that showcases the diverse and rugged landscapes of Taupō, known for its adventure opportunities. The event is structured to engage participants of all ages and abilities, fostering a sense of community involvement.
The Off-Road Triathlon features a swift 1.6km downriver swim in the Waikato River, followed by a challenging 32km mountain bike course that navigates through well-known Taupō trails. The finale is a 10km trail run that takes runners past notable sights such as Huka Falls, offering a blend of natural beauty and athletic challenge. Participants have the option to complete the triathlon solo or as part of a relay team.
For trail running enthusiasts, the event presents multiple distance options, including a 50km Ultra, 26km Trail Run, and a 10km Trail Run, each designed to traverse scenic forest and river paths that highlight the region’s stunning environment. Additionally, there is a new Kids’ Dash ’n’ Slide event, encouraging younger participants to join in the fun.
A new addition for 2026 is the 32km Mountain Bike Solo Race, which allows cyclists to experience the same breathtaking trails that characterize the event. The overall atmosphere is one of excitement and camaraderie, with a focus on celebrating the unique outdoor culture of Taupō.
