The Ultra Five-0 ultramarathon offers a challenging traverse through the diverse landscapes of the Hunua Ranges Regional Park. Participants will encounter a variety of terrains such as gravel roads, single track trails, and chip-seal roads, which add to the difficulty and excitement of the race. The course features picturesque views of reservoirs, lush native bushlands, and expansive farmlands, providing a visually engaging experience throughout.
Runners have the option to compete in the ultramarathon either solo or in a two-person relay. The relay includes a changeover at Mangatawhiri Dam, which serves as the midway point of the race. Additionally, a shorter 25km course is available, covering the second half of the main route, starting from Mangatawhiri Dam and concluding in Clevedon.
This event emphasizes environmental responsibility, urging participants to bring their own cups or water bottles to use at refill stations along the course, supporting the race’s commitment to sustainability.
The Ultra Five-0 is organized collaboratively by First Tier Sports Productions and Trail Events NZ, ensuring a well-coordinated event that highlights the natural beauty and community spirit of the area.
