
Race 3 of the Waimea Harriers Wallace Shield series takes place at Moturoa/Rabbit Island, featuring a beach course that begins at the Old Domain Reserve.
This event employs a handicap format, which means participants start based on their previous race times or estimated times provided on the day. The slowest runners set off first at 2:30 pm, followed by competitors at staggered intervals, culminating with the fastest runner starting last in an effort to catch up. The winner is determined by who crosses the finish line first.
Participants can register starting at 1:45 pm, with a race briefing scheduled for 2:20 pm. The atmosphere is often community-oriented, with local runners coming together to support and encourage one another throughout the event.
