The race
About this course
The third event in the Waimea Harriers Wallace Shield series takes place at Rabbit Island Totara Reserve, utilizing the picturesque surroundings of the island. Participants gather at the BBQ area in the Totara Picnic Area, creating a communal atmosphere that enhances the racing experience.
The race format is straightforward, commencing at 2:30 PM following a briefing at 2:20 PM. Prior to the event, registration opens at 1:45 PM, allowing time for participants to prepare and connect with fellow runners.
After the race, a complimentary BBQ, sponsored by Fulton Hogan, provides an opportunity for socializing and celebrating the day’s achievements. The event features various distance options for juniors and includes both running and walking categories, accommodating a wide range of participants and encouraging community involvement. The natural beauty of Rabbit Island adds a scenic backdrop to this engaging event.
