
The Whangarei Run/Walk Festival offers participants a scenic and culturally engaging experience. The half marathon route provides runners with coastal views and passes through notable landmarks including the Town Basin Sculpture Garden, as well as crossing the architecturally significant Te Matau A Pohe Bridge and Kowhiti Foot Bridge. Along the route, participants can expect hydration stations every 3 kilometers and various forms of entertainment to boost morale and enhance the festive atmosphere.
The shorter 8.5km course allows participants to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the region, featuring a route that includes the Hatea Loop with its lush bush tracks and views along the Hatea River, offering a refreshing experience for both runners and walkers.
This event is part of the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series, linking it with other regional events that promote health, fitness, and community involvement throughout the year.
