A flat, popular loop around Lake Pupuke, the freshwater volcanic lake between Takapuna and Milford on the North Shore. Approximately a 6–6.5 km circuit, it links a string of lakeside reserves — Killarney Park, Henderson Park, Sylvan Park, Kitchener Park and the Quarry Lake Reserve — with quiet residential streets where the shoreline path breaks. You loop right around from Takapuna up to Milford and back, with the lake in view for much of the way. It's very flat and a great, low-stress option for an easy run, a regular midweek lap or an out-the-door 6 km.
This is one of the most popular walking and running spots on the North Shore, so there are almost always people out running and walking — expect company any time of day. It's genuinely flat, which makes it easy to hold a steady pace. Note that from September to December the lakeside path between Henderson Park and Sylvan Park is closed to give the water birds space to nest, so you'll follow the street detour around that section during those months. Parking, toilets and cafés are easy to find at the Takapuna (Killarney Park) end.
The route starts at Killarney Park, Takapuna.
6.5 km (loop).
