The run

Auckland's most iconic waterfront run. Flat, wide and well-lit in parts, the shared path follows the Waitematā Harbour east through Ōkahu Bay, Mission Bay and Kohimarama out to St Heliers, with views across to Rangitoto the whole way. Pick a section to suit: Mission Bay to St Heliers and back is a solid 6 km with a coffee stop in the middle, while the full city-to-St-Heliers out-and-back (start on Quay Street) is about 16 km.

Good to know

Early mornings are best — by 9am on weekends the path gets busy with walkers, dogs, scooters and families. Cafés and toilets at Mission Bay and St Heliers make either a natural turnaround.
