Start at Silo Park in Wynyard Quarter and follow the promenade through Westhaven Marina, running beneath the Auckland Harbour Bridge and on into Herne Bay. It's flat and peaceful early in the morning, with excellent views of the bridge and the harbour the whole way. Turn around at Herne Bay for a solid 5–6 km.
Best at sunrise, when the promenade is quiet and the light on the harbour is superb. Paid parking around Wynyard Quarter; cafés and toilets at Silo Park.
