The race
About this course
The Dovedale Hill Race features a scenic route from Wakefield to the summit of Dovedale Hill, primarily following Pigeon Valley Road. This course provides participants with the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the area, including views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Logistically, registration takes place at the “Whitby” car park from early afternoon, with staggered start times for walkers and runners. The race encourages community involvement, as participants have the option to either jog back down the hill via forestry roads or arrange carpooling to leave a vehicle at the top prior to the event.
Additionally, a junior 5km event is offered, starting from the halfway point, allowing younger competitors to engage in the race experience. The atmosphere is characterized by local support and camaraderie among participants, making it a notable event in the community calendar.
