Dovedale Hill Race

The Dovedale Hill Race, scheduled for 9 August 2025, is a traditional event beginning in Wakefield and culminating at the peak of Dovedale Hill via Pigeon Valley Road. The event is accessible to members of WH, AthleticsNelson, and to children, youth, and students at no cost. Participants can register at the Whitby car park in central Wakefield starting at 1:30pm, with different start times set for walkers, early runners and runners.

The course layout is one-directional, and participants have the option of returning to the starting point either by jogging down via forestry roads and Pigeon Valley Road, or arranging carpooling and leaving a vehicle at the finishing point prior to the race. A separate event for juniors commences halfway through the course at 2:45pm.

The event is organized by Waimea Harriers. The event features two different races; a junior race and a traditional local race.
