Kaitaia Trail Run/Walk

The Summit Forests Kaitaia Trail Run/Walk is scheduled for 9 August 2025 and is a part of the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series. The race takes place in the Te Hiku Forest, a 17,000-hectare pine forest planted initially as a shield against coastal sand drifts. The forest is notable for its sparse undergrowth and evenly spaced trees, lending a unique ambiance to the running route. The carpet of pine needles offers a softer running surface. Participants have the option to compete or simply enjoy the course at their own pace with companions.

The Sport Northland Run/Walk Series includes other events, with the next race being the Whangarei Run/Walk Festival on 14 September 2025, and the previous one being the Bay of Islands Run/Walk Festival held on 18 May 2025. The Summit Forests Kaitaia Trail Run/Walk offers different course options to cater to a range of running preferences.
