This adventure race offers a unique team-based experience that combines paddling, trekking, and mountain biking in a stunning natural setting. Set in the Marokopa/Waitomo area, participants will navigate a diverse landscape featuring hills, rivers, lakes, and bush, creating an engaging and challenging course.
The event logistics include registration and a briefing held on Friday evening in Marokopa, providing an opportunity for teams to prepare before the race begins. Accessibility is convenient, with the location just a couple of hours from major cities like New Plymouth and Hamilton.
Participants can choose between a 12-hour and a 24-hour format, accommodating various skill levels and preferences. For teams without kayaks or packrafts, a ‘Non-Paddling’ division is available, substituting a mountain biking and trekking stage for the water section.
The course includes multiple rogaine segments, allowing teams to collect checkpoints in any order they choose. This format encourages strategic planning and teamwork, as teams must decide how to maximize their strengths within the given time limit while navigating the rich terrain.
