The Peak to Pub race offers participants a diverse multisport challenge starting from the lofty summit of Mt Hutt. Participants begin with a thrilling 2km ski descent, transitioning into an 18km mountain bike ride down the mountain’s access road. The event culminates in a 12km run to Methven, featuring a mix of road, trail, and cross-terrain sections that may include water crossings and muddy patches.
The race is designed to be accessible to a wide range of athletic abilities, from elite multisport athletes to enthusiastic recreational participants. This inclusivity contributes to the event’s vibrant atmosphere, particularly noticeable at the finish line located at the Blue Pub in Methven. Here, competitors gather post-race, creating a communal space to share stories and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with completing such a unique and challenging event. The descent from an altitude of 2086m at the summit to 300m at the pub adds a dramatic element to the experience, encompassing a significant vertical drop over the course of the race.
