The RATs Winter Duathlon Series, held at Rotorua MTB Hub, Te Putake O Tawa, features a multi-stage course consisting of an off-road run, a mountain bike ride, and another off-road run. This series is designed to cater to a wide range of ages and abilities, starting from children as young as four years old. The event encourages a mix of fun, fitness, and friendly competition, creating an inclusive atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.
The courses are set in a scenic area, allowing participants to experience the natural beauty of the surrounding forest landscape, which adds a unique and challenging element to the race. Community involvement is evident with local organizations playing a key role in the organization and execution of the event series. This series not only promotes physical activity but also strengthens community bonds.
Each race within the series progressively builds on the previous one, culminating in a final event that brings together the local running and multisport community to celebrate fitness and competition in the cooler winter months. The series is managed by the Rotorua Association of Triathlon & Multisport, which ensures a well-organized experience for all attendees.
