The Rugged Rogaine Series offers participants an opportunity to navigate the scenic Waikato countryside while engaging in an adventure sport that emphasizes map reading and navigation skills.
The third event features a unique format that allows individuals or teams to explore a course set through varied terrain, including forestry and farmland. Participants aim to locate as many controls as possible within their designated time frames of 2 or 4 hours. While the 2-hour event can be tackled solo, the 4-hour event requires teams of 2 to 5 people, accommodating various group compositions such as men, women, mixed, or junior teams.
Each competitor receives a detailed rogaine map to assist in their navigation efforts. The atmosphere is typically one of camaraderie and challenge, as participants immerse themselves in both the physical and mental aspects of the race, making it a community-focused event that encourages teamwork and outdoor exploration.
