The Rugged Rogaine Series offers participants an opportunity to navigate the scenic Waikato countryside while engaging in adventure sports. The final event in the series takes place at Mt Karioi, Raglan, and serves as a fundraiser to support the Karioi Project, with most proceeds directed towards this initiative.
Participants can choose between a two-hour solo option or a four-hour team format, which requires groups of 2 to 5 individuals. The course traverses a mix of forestry and farmland, where competitors aim to locate as many checkpoints as possible within their designated time. Each participant is supplied with a detailed rogaine map to assist in navigation.
The event fosters a community atmosphere, encouraging teamwork and cooperation in the longer format, while also promoting individual challenge in the shorter option. This blend of scenic exploration and skill-based competition contributes to a unique experience in New Zealand’s adventure racing landscape.
