Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon: Nelson

This event takes place at Tahunanui Reserve, featuring a swim in the ocean along Tahunanui Beach, providing a scenic and safe environment for young participants. The swim is designed to be approachable, allowing most participants to stand during the short leg, while encouraging everyone to take part.

The transition area is situated on the recreation fields, facilitating a smooth shift between legs. The cycling segment takes place on the streets surrounding the recreation ground, offering a chance for participants to navigate a familiar local landscape. The running leg is set around the recreation ground itself, ensuring a supportive atmosphere as families and friends gather to cheer on the athletes.

The event emphasizes participation, allowing children to compete individually or as part of a two-person team, where one member handles the swim and the other the bike, while both team members complete the run together. Additionally, a ‘Splash n Dash’ aquathon is available for six-year-olds, introducing them to the joys of multisport in a playful manner.
