The South Island Ultra Marathon is scheduled for 10 May 2025, taking place on the West Coast Wilderness Trail in the South Island. This event features four distinct races, all set against a backdrop of varied and scenic landscapes, including lakes, rivers, wetlands, and stunning sea views. The course encompasses elements such as historic tram line bridges, swing bridges, and expansive forested areas.

Participants will navigate different sections of the trail, with routes that commence in Greymouth and culminate in Hokitika, allowing runners to experience diverse terrains, including significant elevations and downhill stretches leading to the seafront finish. The trail is classified as a Grade 2 Mountain Bike Ride, suggesting a moderate level of difficulty with some uphill climbs.

Additionally, the event is organized by CJM’S Events, which is noted for its focus on promoting outdoor activities and community engagement. Post-race amenities may include opportunities for participants to relax and enjoy the coastal environment of Hokitika, fostering a sense of community among runners and supporters.
