The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series takes place on Thursday evenings during the spring and summer months, coinciding with daylight savings.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances in the Biathlon format, incorporating both mountain biking and road cycling options. The run segments follow a 2.5km course, where runners turning around at a designated cone at the 1.25km mark. Individuals can enter solo or as part of a two-person relay team, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
Additionally, the series offers run/walk only and bike-only categories, accommodating a broad range of abilities. The staggered start times allow slower participants to begin earlier, ensuring that they are not the last on the course, promoting an inclusive environment.
The event begins and concludes at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park on Colombo Road in Masterton, with bike-to-run transitions occurring at the same location. This setup enhances the logistical flow of the event and encourages community engagement among participants and spectators alike.
