The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series features a mix of biking and running events, taking place on Thursday evenings during daylight savings in spring and summer. Participants can choose from various biathlon distances, incorporating both mountain biking (MTB) and road cycling options, with all run segments utilizing the same 2.5km course. Runners completing the shorter distance will turn around at a designated cone placed at the halfway mark.
The format allows for individual entries as well as two-person relay teams. Additionally, there are separate options for those interested in run/walk or bike-only participation, accommodating a wide range of abilities.
To enhance inclusivity, start times are staggered, allowing faster participants to begin last, ensuring that those who are slower are not left to finish alone.
The event’s start and finish line is conveniently located at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park, providing a centralized hub for transitions between biking and running segments. The atmosphere is supportive, with a community spirit evident throughout the series, making it a welcoming environment for all participants.
