The Auckland Urban Amphibian is set against the backdrop of Auckland’s East Coast, starting and finishing at the popular Takapuna Beach. Participants traverse a mixture of terrains including beach runs, cliff tracks, and tidal crossings, coupled with ocean swims that make up the SwimRun format. Each segment of the race offers a different challenge, with the course extending to various turnaround points along the coast depending on the distance tackled.
The event is structured to cater to a range of fitness levels and adventure spirits, from shorter, more manageable distances to a demanding 40km challenge reaching Long Bay. This diversity makes the race accessible yet testing, appealing to both competitive athletes and those seeking a fun, rigorous day out.
Participants have the option to compete individually or in pairs, adding a layer of strategy as teammates must stay within 10 meters of each other throughout the event. This requirement fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork, enhancing the communal experience.
The Auckland Urban Amphibian not only tests physical and mental endurance but also provides a unique way to experience the natural beauty of Auckland’s shorelines, making it a memorable event for all involved.
