Barefoot XTRAIL Series: West Wind

The Barefoot XTRAIL Series West Wind event, set to take place at Meridian Wind Farm on 30 March 2025, forms part of a recurring series of off-road winter trail runs. The Meridian team has graciously opened access to over 25km of diverse trails nestled within one of the most technologically advanced wind farms globally.

The course promises a variety of terrains, including tracks through forests carpeted with pine needles, coastal paths adjacent to the roaring Cook Straight, and ridge lines boasting views of the South Island just 25 kilometres away. A unique feature of this event is the opportunity to run amidst towering 110-metre wind turbines.

The series offers participants the choice between short, medium, and long-distance races. The event is organized by Barefoot Sport, and the West Wind race is a part of the broader Barefoot XTRAIL Series. The next race in the series, the Barefoot XTRAIL Series Orongorongos, is scheduled for 18 May 2025.
