Twizel Hard Labour Weekend

The Meridian Twizel Hard Labour weekend is scheduled for 25 to 26 October 2025, taking place in Twizel, New Zealand. This multisport event has been held annually since its inception in 1985, originally starting as a half marathon fundraiser for youth sports. Over two days, participants can engage in a variety of activities, including canal kayaking, mountain biking, and off-road running.

The event features a course that offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape, including Lake Ruataniwha. Participants have the option to enter individual events or opt for the complete experience by competing in all three disciplines to earn the title of “Hard Labourer.”

A notable addition in 2024 is the Youth Hard Labourer Event, tailored for participants aged 12 to 17, which includes a shorter kayak segment, mountain biking, and an off-road run. This allows younger competitors to experience the challenges of the Hard Labourer events. The weekend typically includes amenities for participants, although specific post-race activities may vary each year.
