The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series offers a variety of Biathlon formats combining cycling and running, catering to different skill levels and preferences. Participants can select from options including mountain biking and road cycling, with the running segments taking place on a designated 2.5km course. Runners completing the shorter distance will turn around at a marked cone, ensuring a clear and organized route.
In addition to the Biathlon, participants can choose to enter as individuals or form a two-person relay team. The series also accommodates those interested in run/walk or bike-only categories, promoting inclusivity for all fitness levels.
Logistically, the event features staggered start times, allowing faster participants to set off last, which helps ensure that slower cyclists and runners are not left feeling isolated on the course. The start and finish area is conveniently located at the Henley Lake Men’s Shed car park, with the transition area for cycling to running situated at the same venue.
The atmosphere is welcoming and community-oriented, encouraging local involvement and fostering a spirit of friendly competition. The event takes place during daylight saving time, enhancing the experience with extended evening light for participants.
