The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series takes place on Thursdays during daylight savings, spanning the spring and summer months. The series offers a variety of Biathlon formats that combine biking and running, with options for both mountain biking and road cycling.
Participants can choose from different distances, with the run course featuring a straightforward turnaround point at 1.25km for the shorter 2.5km run. This event accommodates individual entrants as well as two-person relay teams. Additionally, there are options for those who prefer to run or walk only, as well as a bike-only category.
The atmosphere is welcoming to all abilities, supported by staggered start times that allow slower participants to compete without the pressure of being last on the course. The start and finish area, located at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park off Colombo Road in Masterton, also serves as the transition zone for cyclists to runners. This setup enhances the event’s organization and ensures a smooth experience for participants.
