The race
The Biathlon Series hosted by the Wairarapa Multisports Club features a variety of bike and run combinations, allowing participants to choose between mountain biking and road cycling. The running segments follow a 2.5km course, with turnaround points marked for shorter distances. This format supports individual participants as well as two-person relay teams, catering to diverse abilities.
In addition to the biathlon options, there are dedicated run/walk and bike-only events, promoting inclusivity. The staggered start times ensure that slower participants are not left feeling last on the course, enhancing the experience for everyone involved.
The event convenes at Henley Lake, utilizing the Mens Shed car park on Colombo Road for both the start and finish, as well as the transition area between biking and running. With a focus on community engagement, this series takes place during the spring and summer months, coinciding with the daylight savings period, which adds a vibrant atmosphere to the gatherings.
