The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series takes place on Thursday evenings during the spring and summer months, providing a vibrant atmosphere as the daylight lingers. Participants can select from various Biathlon formats that combine biking and running, with options for both mountain biking and road cycling.
The running segment features a well-marked 2.5km course, where shorter distance runners will turn around at a designated cone. This structure allows for a clear and organized path for all participants. Individuals can compete solo or as part of a two-person relay team, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
In addition to the Biathlon events, there are dedicated run/walk and bike-only options, catering to a wide range of abilities and preferences. The staggered start times are designed to enhance the experience, ensuring that slower participants can enjoy their time on the course without feeling rushed or left behind.
The event begins and concludes at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park, which also serves as the transition area for participants shifting from biking to running. This central location supports accessibility and provides a gathering point for participants and spectators alike. The overall atmosphere is welcoming, encouraging both competitive spirit and community involvement.
