Canterbury Adventure Race

The Canterbury Adventure Race offers a unique team rogaine experience set against the backdrop of the picturesque Canterbury Plains, including the areas around Rangiora and Kaiapoi. Participants can choose from three durations, each catering to different skill levels and fitness.

The 3-hour category is accessible for families and beginners, encouraging newcomers to adventure racing. It involves navigating off-road trails and forestry roads, with participants expected to cover approximately 6km on foot and 12km on a mountain bike. This category fosters community engagement and provides a supportive atmosphere for those trying adventure racing for the first time.

For those with a moderate fitness level and some navigational skills, the 6-hour event presents a more challenging option. Competitors will jog or walk around 10km off-road and mountain bike approximately 30km on a mix of 4WD trails and singletrack. This event promotes camaraderie among participants as they work together to tackle the various course features.

The 9-hour event is designed for more competitive teams, requiring participants to navigate approximately 20km on foot and 50km on a mountain bike, often exceeding the stated distances while aiming to collect all control points. This category emphasizes strategic planning and teamwork, appealing to seasoned adventurers looking for a rigorous challenge.
