The Lake Kaniere Scenic Triathlon celebrates its 40th event on the 1st of March, 2025. The event takes place at Lake Kaniere, situated near Hokitika on the picturesque West Coast.
Participants have a variety of race options to select from, including Kayak Triathlon, Swim Triathlon, Duathlon, a long-distance swim, run/walk, as well as events specifically designed for junior athletes.
The courses feature a blend of terrain types, and it is suggested that participants use either a Mountain or Gravel bike for optimal performance. The triathlon events cater to various age groups, with different race compositions for juniors aged 7-10 years and 11-13 years.
The Kayak Triathlon and Swim Triathlon offer a unique mix of running, biking, and either kayaking or swimming. The Duathlon combines running and biking, with specific distances for junior participants. There is also a separate run/walk event and a long-distance swim event. The Lake Kaniere Scenic Triathlon provides a diverse range of challenges to suit every type of athlete.
