The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series takes place on Thursdays during the spring and summer months, capitalizing on the daylight savings period.
Participants can choose from various Biathlon distances that combine biking and running, with options for both mountain biking and road cycling. The run course is standardized, featuring a turnaround cone for the 2.5km runners at the 1.25km mark. The event allows for individual entries or participation in a two-person relay team format.
In addition to the Biathlon, the series includes run/walk and bike-only options, catering to a broad range of skill levels. A staggered start system ensures that faster participants begin last, allowing slower runners, walkers, and cyclists to enjoy the course without the pressure of being the last to finish.
The event’s start and finish are located at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park off Colombo Road in Masterton, with the transition area for biking to running situated in the same location. The atmosphere is community-oriented, welcoming individuals of all abilities.
