The race
The Biathlon Series organized by the Wairarapa Multisports Club takes place on Thursdays during the spring and summer months, coinciding with daylight savings. Participants can choose from various biathlon formats that combine biking and running, with options for both mountain biking and road cycling.
The running segments utilize a consistent course where shorter distances feature a turnaround point at 1.25km. Participants can engage as individuals or form a two-person relay team. Additionally, there are options available for those who wish to partake in run/walk or bike-only categories, catering to various skill levels.
A notable feature of this series is the staggered start times, with slower participants beginning before faster ones, ensuring that everyone is engaged throughout the event. The start and finish area is conveniently located at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park, with the transition zone for biking to running situated at the same venue, facilitating smooth logistics for competitors.
The atmosphere encourages community involvement, welcoming participants of all abilities to join in a supportive and inclusive environment.
