The race
The Wairarapa Multisports Club’s Biathlon Series features a dynamic blend of biking and running, taking place on Thursday evenings during the spring and summer months. Participants can choose from various biathlon distances, incorporating both mountain biking and road cycling options. The running component utilizes a 2.5km loop, with shorter distances turning around at a designated cone.
Participants can compete individually or in pairs for a relay format. In addition to the biathlon events, there are options for run/walk and bike-only participants, accommodating a wide range of abilities.
To enhance inclusivity, start times are staggered, allowing slower participants to enjoy the course without the pressure of finishing last. The series begins and concludes at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park, which also serves as the bike-to-run transition area.
This community-oriented event fosters participation from diverse skill levels and emphasizes a supportive atmosphere, making it a notable fixture in the local sporting calendar.
