The race
The Biathlon Series organized by the Wairarapa Multisports Club takes place on Thursdays during the spring and summer months. Participants can choose from various Biathlon formats that combine biking and running, with options for both mountain biking and road cycling.
The running course consists of a well-marked route where 2.5 km runners turn around at a designated cone placed at the 1.25 km mark. There are opportunities for individuals to compete solo or to form two-person relay teams. Additionally, the event features run/walk only and bike-only categories, catering to a wide range of abilities.
To enhance the experience, start times are staggered, allowing faster participants to begin last, ensuring that slower runners, walkers, and cyclists are not left behind on the course. The event begins and concludes at the Henley Lake Mens Shed car park, which also serves as the transition area for bike to run.
The atmosphere is inclusive, welcoming individuals of all skill levels and fostering community involvement throughout the series.
